Fantasy Football: Start/Sit Week 7

Hi, it’s Aaron Truesdale and I’m back and ready to give you the fantasy advice you need for the upcoming NFL season. Also, I answer any fantasy questions you may have every Thursday morning through Sunday on Facebook under various fantasy football groups. Be sure to follow me on Twitter.

Now, let me tell you a little bit about my start/sit column. Each week I will be giving my top 3 starts & my top 3 sits at each position. There will be a start & sit of the week at each position with projections. My column will not include the automatic starters. Automatic starters are guys you don’t bench unless they’re injured or on a bye week. I am going to give 2 examples of automatic starters at each position. QB: Josh Allen & Patrick Mahomes, RB: Christian McCaffery & Dalvin Cook, WR: Tyreke Hill & Stefon Diggs, TE: Travis Kelce & George Kittle, K: Justin Tucker & Harrison Butker. For defenses, Pittsburgh Steelers & Los Angeles Rams. Now, I’ve added a twist to my article that will mention a sleeper of the week at each position who did not make my top 3 starters list. Also, a player that is most likely on the waiver wire that you can stream if you’re in a jam at a position. Let’s get it going with Week 7!

START

Matthew Stafford vs. DET

Matthew Stafford made this perfect no-look pass seem way too easy

Projection: 44/50|420 YDS|5 TDS

Stafford had a big game last week. He will build on that and have an even bigger game against his former team. Revenge is sweet and it will be even sweeter for Stafford.

Ryan Tannehill vs. KC

Tannehill is getting better but I am not 100% sold on him the rest of the season. This week he gets the Chiefs defense that is trash and should be started if you own him. Tannehill is also a good fill-in for a week in which I call bye week hell.

Tua Tagovailoa vs. ATL

Tua had a good return in a loss against the Jaguars. Another guy I’m not 100% sold on but I could be wrong about Tua. He gets a Falcons defense that is horrid and he should have another big game. Tua is another one to trust to fill in a bye week.

SIT

Jared Goff vs. LAR

Projection: 11/23|119 YDS|2 INTS|2 FL

The Lions coach said last week that Goff needs to step up but Goff will take another huge step backward. Also, I believe this is the week he gets benched by Campbell. He will be embarrassed getting bench, especially against his former team. Now I know this is bye week hell but don’t hurt yourself by starting Goff as a fill-in. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Daniel Jones vs. CAR

Jones didn’t play well coming off the concussion. He faces a good Panthers defense that is about to get better with Gilmore set to return. Plus injuries to the team are reasons to steer clear of Jones in fantasy football for the foreseeable future.

Joe Burrow vs. BAL

Ravens are getting healthy and defense is getting better. Burrow I believe won’t have a terrible game but won’t have a great one either. It will be more mediocre. Mediocre doesn’t cut it as a starter in fantasy football and I believe there are better options out there.

SLEEPER

Justin Fields vs. TB

Justin Fields is going to be a good NFL and fantasy football quarterback but just needs that game to get his confidence going and that game will happen against a bad Tampa pass defense. So if you need a fill-in due to injury or bye week pick up Fields and roll with him.

START

Chuba Hubbard vs. NYG

Is Chuba Hubbard a viable fantasy starter with McCaffrey out? - ESPN Video

Projection: 20 CAR|110 YDS|1 TD|4 REC|35 YDS|1 TD

With McCaffrey on the IR Hubbard is in for an extended role for the Panthers. That is good news due to bye week hell as I am calling week 7. Hubbard will fill the McCaffery role in the Panther’s offense. He is also facing a vulnerable Giants defense. Hubbard will sight for sore eyes in week 7.

Darrell Henderson vs. DET

Henderson has been excellent and consistent this season thus far. This week will be no different against a Lions team that is in disarray. Just start him you will be happy with the results.

Damien Harris vs. NYJ

Harris had a good game against a top 5 Dallas run defense last week. Now he faces a miserable Jets defense. So therefore Harris will have an even bigger game and will help with bye week hell.

SIT

Javonte Williams vs. CLE

Projection: 8 CAR|32 YDS|3 REC|21 YDS

Now I thought Williams was going to have a breakout game last week and not only was wrong I was dead wrong. So he shouldn’t be trusted against a solid Browns defense. If you have to fill a bye week with him you must find a better option he will drop a dud.

Joe Mixon vs. BAL

Now I know Mixon has been decent this season thus far but in this game, I believe the Bengals will have to pass more to beat the Ravens which means fewer carries for Mixon which equals less production.

Elijah Mitchell vs. IND

Right now 49ers running backs are hard to predict who is going to produce from week to week. Plus the Indy defense isn’t all that bad. So if possible avoid Mitchell and any other 49ers running back.

SLEEPER

Miles Sanders vs. LV

Sanders is good but the team just doesn’t use him and it’s a big mystery why they don’t use him more. Also, I know he isn’t on a lot of waiver wires but I have seen him being dropped by many fantasy football owners. So I think after last week’s showing where he had very few opportunities. That the Eagles will use him more and with this being bye week hell. Sanders is worth taking a flier on.

START

Antonio Brown vs. CHI

Antonio Brown

Projection: 8 REC|136 YDS|3 TDS|1 CAR|20 YDS

Brown has turned into Bradys #1 target. Their connection will just continue to improve more and more as the season goes on and that is deadly within itself. Brown will explode and haunt that good Bears defense.

Cordelle Patterson vs. MIA

Patterson is such a dynamic player and focal point of the Falcons offense that he is a fantasy owner’s dream and in leagues where he is eligible at RB & WR, he is the perfect bye week fill-in. So look for him to continue his consistent play against a mediocre Dolphins defense.

Deebo Samuel vs. IND

Samuel is the clear-cut #1 WR for the 49ers and he will continue to put up monster fantasy football numbers. Also, it is great his bye week is behind him. Samuels should be trusted as a WR1 for the rest of the season.

SIT

Tyler Lockett vs. NO

Projection: 3 REC|36 YDS

Lockett and no other Seahawks WR should be trusted while Geno Smith is their QB. So until Wilson returns from injury I would avoid Lockett and all other Seahawk receivers. So if you can leave Seahawks receivers on your bench until further notice.

Corey Davis vs. NE

Belichek tends to shut down rookie quarterbacks. Also, I just don’t trust Wilson right now, and if I don’t trust the QB I can’t trust his wide receivers either. So for those reasons leave Davis on your bench. There are much better options this week on the waiver wires.

Tyler Boyd vs. BAL

As long as Chase and Higgins are healthy Boyd should be avoided in all fantasy football formats. Especially this week against a tough Ravens defense.

SLEEPER

Darnell Mooney vs. TB

If you’re looking for a WR on the waiver to snatch up and play then go get Mooney because he seems to have great chemistry with Fields. Plus he has a great matchup against a banged-up and horrible Buccaneers secondary.

START

Mike Gesicki vs. ATL

Can Mike Gesicki Surpass Clay & Jackson? | Phins News

Projection: 10 REC|121 YDS|1 TD

Gesicki seems to finally be turning into a reliable fantasy football TE. Also, he faces a trashy Falcons defense which Gesicki will terrorize this week. He seems to have great chemistry with Tua as well. So I was wrong about Gesicki being a bust early this season. So with that said you can start trusting him as a TE1 in fantasy football for the rest of the season.

Zach Ertz vs. HOU

Ertz is on a new team and a better offense so look for him to make an impact right away. He is up against a bad Texans defense. So trust him this week and the rest of the season.

Kyle Pitts vs. MIA

Pitts had a breakout game before the bye week and now coming out of the bye week look for him to build on his breakout game. He will decimate that Dolphins defense. So start him if you have him. Maybe even as a flex option.

SIT

T.J. Hockenson vs. LAR

Projection: 4 REC|25 YDS

Hockenson has been the focus of all defensive coordinators because of the lack of weapons in Detroit and that will continue until someone else besides the running backs step up in the passing game. So until that happens you can leave Hockenson safely on your bench.

Noah Fant vs. CLE

The Browns offense is beaten up but not the defense. The Browns defense has been pretty good against tight ends so avoid Fant this week for that reason.

Tyler Higbee vs. DET

There are too many mouths to feed in that Rams offense and Higbee gets lost in the shuffle. So that is reason enough to avoid Higbee.

SLEEPER

Ricky Seals-Jones vs. GB

While Thomas is out with an injury Ricky could be a sneaky fantasy football option. So if you need a bye week fill-in pick up Jones and start him with confidence.

For Kickers and Defense. I’m only going to give a projection and an Explanation for the starts/sits of the week. The rest of the top 3 will just be listed with no explanation.

START

Matt Prater vs. HOU

Matt Prater Fantasy Profile: News, Stats & Outlook for 2021

Projection: 6 XP|3 FGS

The Cardinal’s offense will explode all over that Texans they will kick a few field goals along the way. So Prater is the obvious Kicker of choice.

Mason Crosby vs. WAS

Younghoe Koo vs. MIA

SIT

Jason Myers vs. NO

Projection: 2 XP

That Seahawks offense is damaged due to injury right now. They will mustard a couple of Touchdowns but a couple of extra points makes for a bad fantasy football day for a kicker. So Myers should be bypassed.

Jason Sanders vs. ATL

Zane Gonzalez vs. NYG

SLEEPER

Evan McPherson vs. BAL

So this game I believe will be more of a hard-fought defensive battle other than an offensive juggernaut. So therefore that will lead to a few field goals. So if you need a kicker this week pick up and start McPherson.

START

Arizona vs. Houston

Arizona Defense Fantasy Profile: News, Stats & Outlook for 2021

Projection: 7 PTS|236 YDS|8 SKS|4 INT|2 TDS

This will be an all-around team statement game for the Cardinals. Their defense will have a mighty fine day it will be just as good of a game as their offense will have this week. Cardinals in my opinion should be started over any other defense this week in fantasy football.

Carolina vs. New York Giants

New Orleans vs. Seattle

SIT

Chicago vs. Tampa Bay

Projection: 36 PTS|444 YDS|2 SKS

Chicago’s defense is solid but that Tampa offense is too explosive. That is reason enough to avoid them.

Tennessee vs. Kansas City

Washington vs. Green Bay

SLEEPER

Cincinnati vs. Baltimore

The Bengal’s defense is better than anyone gives them credit for. Also, I believe the game between Bengals & Ravens will be a hard-fought defensive battle. So if you need a defense to fill the bye week or a matchup play take the risk and pick up and start the Bengals defense.

I had a lot of fun writing this and I hope all of my week 7 start/sit advice helps everyone. I’ll be back next week with more fantasy start/sit advice.
