Nascar Notable Notes | Vegas Winners

Vegas is for gambling. Sometimes taking a chance on the long shot pays off. That is pretty much how the NASCAR weekend at Vegas played out.

Taking a chance on up and comer, Christian Rose is sure to pay off. Rose got started with B.J McLeod Motorsports in August of 2018 and did his first test race in December of that same year at Hickory Motor Speedway. Rose then moved to Mooresville to pursue his career, ran his first late-model race in January of 2019, and went on to sign with Cook Racing Technologies on a part time basis in 2020. He went full time this year. Rose has had multiple top 5s in his late model career in such a short time and this weekend he made his ARCA debut at Vegas, where he notably finished 10th. Keep an eye on this one!

If you would have doubled down on Thor Motorsports for the Truck Series race, you would have won big! Thor Motorsports finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th at Vegas. This is a first in the Camping World Truck Series. But the driver that took the checkered flag, scored even bigger. Notably, Christian Eckes, in leading his teammates to the checkered flag, captured his first career win!

The Xfinity race kept up the trend of long-shot winners, as Josh Berry notably took the checkered flag. But the bigger winner was Jordan Anderson Racing. Notably, Anderson’s car, driven by Ty Dillon, scored its first laps led! This was also the 5th top 10 finish for Jordan Anderson Racing.

Finally, the Cup Series race would not disappoint with big winners. Notably, Denny Hamlin got his first career win at Vegas. As this was the first race of Round 2 of the playoffs, Hamlin has clinched a spot in Round 3. Hamlin also won the first race of Round 1 to clinch his spot in Round 2. This was Hamlin’s 46th overall career win. But Hamlin was not the only driver that won big. Some non-playoff drivers also scored big. Tyler Reddick, who was eliminated from the playoffs last week, notably scored stage points in both Stage 1 and 2, and finished 6th. Also notably, Kurt Busch, who was also eliminated last week form the playoffs, finished 8th.
