It is my favorite time of the year! Football is back!!!!! Throughout this season, you will see weekly game picks from me and Aaron Truesdale. Let’s see who has the best record at the end of the season, a little competition never hurt anyone. We have a loaded slate of games for Week 1 so lets get to it. Starting with the current defending Super Bowl champions…
Thursday Night Football
Dallas Cowboys @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Winner: Tampa Bay 31-23
Games closer than people think but I’m going with the defending champs. Tom Brady out duels Dak Prescott in a shootout.
Early Sunday Football Games
Philadelphia Eagles @ Atlanta Falcons
Winner: Eagles 16-10
Slow offensive game. Eagles get a couple of turnovers from Matt Ryan and that leads to them winning the game with late touchdown.
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Buffalo Bills
Winner: Buffalo 24-13
Hate both of these teams but i have to pick one. *Tosses up coin* ok Bills it is. Is TJ Watt even going to play? How much more has Big Ben regressed? Yeah I’ll got with Buffalo here.
Minnesota Vikings @ Cincinnati Bengals
Winner: Bengals 27-17
The Bengals need to make sure QB Joe Burrow doesn’t end up looking like he does in the picture above or else this is going to be another long season. I just think this offense is going to move the ball on what I think is a declining Vikings defense. Burrow for the win.
San Francisco 49ers @ Detroit Lions
Winner: 49ers 20-6
49ers QB Jimmy G plays well and beats what should be a terrible Lions team. Rookie QB Trey Lance should get some playing time late in the game when it’s well in hand.
Arizona Cardinals @ Tennessee Titans
Winner: Titans 34-17
It comes down to can the new look Cardinals defense stop Derrick Henry. My guess is no. Julio Jones and AJ Brown should feast on the depleted secondary of the Cards too. Tennessee easily.
Seattle Seahawks @ Indianapolis Colts
Winner: Seahawks 27-21
How healthy is Colts QB Carson Wentz? Who the hell knows at this point. Despite having a few players out with COVID I do think this is a good game and one of the more under rated ones of the week. Russell Wilson leads his team to victory with a touchdown pass to Tyler Lockett in what ends up being the best game of Week 1.
Los Angeles Chargers @ Washington Football Team
Winner: Chargers 28-10
No idea why people are hyped up about Ryan Shitzpatrick. We know what he is!! Yes, Washington has a good defense but damn. I don’t get the hype around this team. I’ll take the young up and coming superstar Justin Herbert in what ends up being an easy win for the Chargers.
New York Jets @ Carolina Panthers
Winner: Panthers 27-6
What’s more exciting opening up Week 1 with the “Sam Darnold Game”. Answer: Nothing! It’s the Jets and they are going to be awful again with their 15 year old quarterback. McCaffrey lights them up as the Jet’s begin the quest for 4-13
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Houston Texans
Winner: Jaguars 28-3
Snooze fest outside of it being QB Trevor Lawrence’s first start. Jags win easy, Houston is going to be awful.
Sunday Afternoon Football Games
Cleveland Browns @ Kansas City Chiefs
Winner: Chiefs 31-20
I want to pick Cleveland, I just can’t. Chiefs at home with an improved offensive line are going to be hard to stop. In the end, I think Mahomes, Hill, and Kelce are just too much as the Chiefs begin their quest to get back to the Super Bowl 1-0. Sorry Baker.
Miami Dolphins @ New England Patriots
Winner: Patriots 23-13
Mac Jones! Who? Mac Jones! Who? Back then they didn’t want me now I’m hot they all on me. Mac Jones and a revamped Patriots offensive attack beats the Dolphins as the Hall of Fame career (I kid, kind of) of Mac Jones starts off with a win. Also expect the Patriots nasty front seven to be on Tua all day.
Green Bay Packers @ New Orleans Saints
Winner: Packers 27-10
I think Jameis Winston will actually do well with New Orleans but not this week. No Michael Thomas hurts but not as bad as Aaron Rodgers is going to light up this defense. He’s on a mission in what is likely his last year in Green Bay. Rodgers and star WR Devante Adams have their way with the Saints secondary as Rodgers begins his last year in Green Bay with a Week 1 win.
Denver Broncos @ New York Giants
Winner: Denver 27-16
I watched the Giants play New England in preseason and watched Giants QB Daniel Jones struggle with the Patriots second and third team defenses. The guy is regressing at a time you think he would be improving. The Broncos good defense and the fact their QB Teddy Bridgewater don’t make stupid mistakes like Jones will give Denver the win here.
Sunday Night Football
Chicago Bears @ Los Angeles Rams
Winner: Rams 24-10
Matthew Stafford vs Andy Dalton. Wait, Andy Dalton? Oh boy. I’ll show the Bears defense some respect and not have LA put up too many points but this game will be easily won by the Rams. Just play Justin Fields Chicago. Andy Dalton for real?
Monday Night Football
Baltimore Ravens @ Las Vegas Raiders
Winner: Ravens 24-20
Not much to like about either team right now. Ravens just had to sign washed up Levon Bell and Vegas are already cutting picks from this years draft. I trust Lamar more than Carr so I’m going with the birds. Game will be close but Ravens pull away in the fourth quarter.
