Hi, I am going to give you a fantasy football outlook on all 32 teams. I will be doing this in alphabetical order. It will be 32 teams in the next 32 days. I will be giving a fantasy stud, fantasy bust, fantasy breakout player, fantasy sleeper, top fantasy rookie, and since some leagues do defensive players – instead of team defensive, I will be doing top fantasy defensive player. So let’s get this started. Please follow me on Twitter @aaron_truesdale.
The New England Patriots have more fantasy options this season than last season and they went out and spent a lot of money on offense this offseason. In a fantasy football aspect, they’re still mediocre at best. These are the players I came up with to look for and avoid.
Fantasy Stud: Hunter Henry TE
Belichek loves tight ends in his offense, so the Patriots went out and got a couple of really good ones. Henry will feast this year in fantasy football and I believe he will finish as a top-three tight end in fantasy.
Fantasy Bust: Cam Newton QB
Newton will hold the Patriots back again this season and I believe the Mac Jones era will start sooner than expected. Please don’t trust Newton this season. He should be on your ‘do not draft’ list. There will be some people that will stretch and reach for him in fantasy football due to the revamped Patriots offense. Do me a favor please don’t be that guy.
Fantasy Sleeper: Jakobi Meyers WR
Meyers had an up-and-down fantasy football year last season and this year I believe he will be a bit more consistent this season. He will be even better once Newton is benched for Jones. With Newton at quarterback, he will be nothing more than a wide receiver four. When Jones finally takes over, Meyers will be a solid wide receiver three. Draft with caution with Newton at quarterback. If he isn’t drafted pick him up when Jones takes over at quarterback.
Fantasy Breakout: Damien Harris RB
Now I know picking a Patriots running back is like playing roulette. Harris will be the running back to target this season. He will see most carries and will score the most touchdowns. Patriots’ running backs are still hard to trust in fantasy football. Owners should take a late-round flier on Harris.
Top Fantasy Rookie: Mac Jones QB
Jones is a guy you draft high in dynasty leagues. He is more of a waiver-watch guy in re-draft leagues. Newton will struggle early and often and I think he will be so bad that it will force the Patriots to go with Jones early. I believe Jones will be the starter by week three. Jones will be one of the top rookies if not the top fantasy rookie this season. All Patriots fantasy stock will go up once Jones takes over. I believe Jones wins the rookie of the year trophy this season.
Top Fantasy Defensive Player: Stephon Gilmore CB
Gilmore is shutdown corner and a clutch corner. He will get few interceptions, force a few fumbles, and maybe score a touchdown or two. He is one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL and fantasy football. Draft him with confidence.
I hope you enjoy my Team Fantasy Outlooks. Please comment to let me know what you think I welcome the feedback. I also will be more than happy to discuss any player or team further.
