Vanecek Leaves Game 1 with a Lower Body Injury

In the first period of game 1, Capitals Goaltender Vitek Vanecek suffered a lower body injury while going into the splits.

Replacing him is 39 year old Craig Anderson. The former Ottawa Senators goalie played 3 games this regular season.

This continues the goalie carousel with Ilya Samsonov out on COVID protocol. It will likely be Phoenix Copley backing up Anderson for game 2 if Vanecek and Samsonov remain out.

After taking the OT win Saturday against Boston, it’ll be interesting to see if the Caps can survive despite being short handed in net.
