With the CW’s Supergirl show set to end this year with season six, DC appears to be wasting no time before debuting a new Supergirl. According to Deadline Sasha Calle has been cast in the iconic role. Calle is most famous for her role on the show The Young and the Restless.
Calle is set to make her first appearance in the role in the new ‘Flash’ film that just began filming and is set to come out next year. Supergirl, also known as Kara Zor-El, is Superman’s cousin. Typically Kara is Superman’s older cousin, who was sent in a pod to earth in a similar way to that of Superman. But due to her pod going off course and getting trapped in the Phantom zone, Kara arrives on earth much later than Superman, and appears much younger than him. The CW show has made many fans very familiar with the character, and it is as of yet unknown how the ‘Flash’ film will make use of the character. We do know Barry will be traveling to other universes, so it is possible that Supergirl won’t even be from the main DCEU earth.
The ‘Flash” film is really filling up with characters after the announcement of multiple Batmans set to appear. It will be interesting to see if this film has any more surprises in store for us.
