UFC 258 | Review

Though it may have been short of big names, #UFC258 delivered some incredible fights, headlined by a men’s Kamaru Usman vs Gilbert Burns fight and Alexa Grasso vs Maycee Barber women’s fight. Plus, for those who tuned in, viewers were treated to not just a fantastic main event, but the debut of the 8K experience from UFC Apex!

The 8K Experience

Let’s kick things off with the details of this new camera introduced at UFC 258. The Sony A7RIV with a 35mm 1.4G Master Lens stole the show when it came to bringing the viewers at home the most life-like experience. However, although this camera is capable of filming 8K resolution, it was actually the lens that provided the lush colors and field-depth that caught everyone’s attention. How about the extremely crisp close ups and blurred distant object effect? Well, that (known as the bokeh effect), is a result of the very wide aperture lens filming at high speed. It’s most commonly used in photography and film and has recently started to be used in WWE wrestling and NFL football. Check out some of the examples below – spoiler alert!

It can be difficult to get used to, but it essentially brings you the most realistic experience from the comfort of your own home.
