Although the Blackhawks aren’t the strongest defensive team on paper, Lankinen has recorded a GAA of 2.18 and a save percentage of .931. Even though Lankinen is 2-0-2, he has been impressive every game, showing no lapses in goal in a game by game basis.
Two weeks ago, it seemed like The tandem would be Malcolm Subban and Colina Delia, now it seems more like Kevin Lankinen and Malcolm Subban backing him up.
Kevin Lankinen was undrafted but signed with Chicago in 2018 where he played his first two seasons in North America in the AHL with some ECHL action. During those two years, Lankinen was an AHL All-Star.
The Finnish goaltender wasn’t necessarily a superstar in his first two years in North America, but he impressed a lot of people and earned every bit of where he is now. Expect nothing but good things from the 25-year-old.
