WWE Network Joins NBC’s Peacock with a Multi-Year Agreement

We have big news concerning the WWE Network, it has found a new streaming home in March. Both NBC’s Peacock and WWE have officially announced a multi-year agreement earlier today Monday morning Jan. 25th. What does this deal entail you may be wandering? Peacock will now have the exchange streaming rights to the WWE Network in the United States.

Premium Peacock will launch on March 18th, that’s because this is when NBC’s streaming site will have more than 17,000 hours of programming of new, original shows plus the WWE library as well. All WWE live events, which include WrestleMania and SummerSlam, will be available at no additional charge on Peacock, and fans have the option to order events on pay-per-view. Fastlane is the scheduled first event to stream on Peacock on March 21st.

The WWE president and chief revenue officer said this in a statement, “We are thrilled to further the long-standing and trusted partnership WWE has with NBC Universal.” He continued, “Peacock is an innovative platform that will enable us to showcase our most significant events, including WrestleMania, and provide the extraordinary entertainment our fans have come to expect with the combination of premium WWE content, live sports, news, films, and television programs.”

A report by the Sports Business Journal said that this deal between WWE and Peacock is for five years and worth more than $1 billion. WWE Network currently operates as a standalone streaming service, only costing $9.99 per month. The price for the network on Peacock is part of Peacock’s $4.99-per-month ad-supported plan or the $ 9.99-per-month ad-free plan. Both the WWE and NBC’s Peacock will share more details on how they manage WWE customer accounts closer to the network’s launch on Peacock.

It is believed the reason why Peacock was able to make a deal happen with WWE had to do with expanding their overall fan base by utilizing a partnership with Peacock. NBC reportedly liked the idea of adding live-event programming to its premium streaming site. Also what helped and factored in to both sides coming together for such a deal is a nearly 30 year relationship between WWE and NBC Universal.
