Mesut Ozil has left Arsenal on a free transfer to Turkish Super League side Fenerbahce. The German midfielder signed for the Gunners from Real Madrid back in 2013.
At the time, the playmaker was the North London sides record signing at £42.4 million. Known for his incredible vision and passing play, Ozil managed to provide 54 assists in 184 games in the Premier League.
Mesut Ozil has been missing for Arsenal since the start of 2020 and hasn’t featured for Mikel Arteta’s side this season. He has addressed his departure saying “He”ll always be a Gunner.”
Fenerbahce, the side the German playmaker has joined, has asked fans to help fund the move. The Turkish giants are in debt worth up to £450 million and need fans to help fund their new signings wages.
Ozil is expected to feature for the club for the first time next weekend. His commitment and dedication was questioned during his time at Arsenal but was a key player when on top form.
