Eric Young, who’s a two-time Impact World Champion had spoken to Gary Cassidy of Inside The Ropes recently about his feelings towards AEW and Impact Wrestling, and their working partnership we’ve seen currently being played out over the past several weeks on television. This kind of conversation brought up some very interesting match-ups for Eric Young. By having such a crossover happening between two popular wrestling companies it naturally appears even the wrestlers themselves are picturing what possible dream matches they can have.
Young had two big names who were very established stars for AEW right now to take about. He mentioned how he would like to get an opportunity to wrestle Jon Moxley and Miro who are wrestling for Tony Khan’s promotion currently.
Young was quoted by stating, “I mean, I think me and Moxley,” he drew lots of parallels meaning just by similarities alone, “Young believes it’s there.” Moxley was a guy EY crossed paths with at least for a little while they were both in WWE and they seemed to get along pretty well, he added. Young expressed how much respect that he had for Jon Moxley, for being true to what he does and who he is, and also the way Moxley carries himself, “So that’s, I think, a thing I would love.”
Another star wrestler Eric Young praised was Miro. He went on to call one of his former WWE colleague “one of the most talented guys in the world.” He went on to explain, “I did share the ring with him a little bit, he’s a really good buddy of mine, a guy that I think is one of the most talented anywhere.” Young said that he did not see Miro getting released by the WWE and it blew his mind that this actually happened. Young is so happy for Miro signing with AEW. To him it’s awesome for not only Miro but for all wrestling fans. Eric’s personal opinion on the topic was that he feels will get to see the real version of him and that’s a guy that he would love to fight.
Other possible opponents he’d be interested in wrestling were Frankie Kazarian and The Young Bucks. It’s been a real blessing for Young to be that veteran locker room leader at Impact Wrestling and especially at a time where they are partnering up with AEW. “Everything happens for a reason,” said Young. “I’ve got fate tattooed on my right underarm and it’s a thing I believe in. I’m exactly where I was supposed to be and I don’t know if I’ve ever been this excited in my life about my career and where I’m at, the possibilities, and it’s so cool.”
He also went on to talk about his career saying, “I’m not old and I’m not nowhere near done, but it’s such a cool thing at my advanced age to be in the position that I’m in. It’s not lost on me that there is a massive opportunity here and everything I get. I’m just going to work to knock it out of the park and help make people come to realize that Impact is one of the best pro wrestling products right now in the entire world.”
Eric Young made headline wrestling news when he appeared and returned to Impact Wrestling at their Slammiversary pay-per-event last year, coming after a few months of Young being released from his WWE contract as part of budget cuts they had to make due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
