Hey WWE fans I hope your having a better day than me but the odds are if you are a REAL WWE fan your not. Last Monday Night Raw you got to see the multiple issues WWE has when it comes to their booking and programming. At the end of the broadcast Goldberg returned to challenge current WWE Champion Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble. Vince McMahon is going back into the well of aging legends once again to try to boost a mediocre rating that Raw has had over the last year. WWE Raw Legends really? Will it increase ratings temporarily? I’m sure it will but that’s a huge part of WWE’s problem, they don’t think long term. It wasn’t until I listened to Busted Open that I realized how bad and desperate WWE has been with their booking over the last 5 years or more. Let me set this straight before I begin. I am a WWE die hard. I typically support most things they do and make excuses for them but I’m up and over it. As good as Smackdown and NXT are I can’t handle it anymore. WWE has three HUGE issues and I’m going to break them down for you. If you don’t agree comment at the bottom of the page and I’ll be more than happy to talk to you about it. Let’s get it going.
WWE Relies on Legends WAY Too Much
The WWE has a huge problem when it comes to relying on their legends. Anytime they need a pop in rating or someone with a mainstream name to fight on a pay per view they just call up one of their retired stars and bring them back. It’s sad honestly. With a Raw roster full of talented people such as Keith Lee, Sheamus, Ali, The Miz, John Morrison, Richochet, Elias, AJ Styles, The Hurt Business, etc there is no reason they need to bring back Goldberg for anything. Did they forget Goldberg almost ruined the one good thing WWE has had going for them over the last year with The Fiend last year in Saudi? Goldberg also killed the momentum of Kevin Owens a few years back and Owens has been trying to rebound and is just now finding his footing as a main event guy again. No one needs to see Hulk Hogan or Ric Flair on a wrestling show ever again. These guys are going to be 100 years old and WWE will still be bringing them in. They don’t even use the legends to put over their own guys. All they do is scream the catchphrases of their wonder years and leave only for the Raw rating to plummet the next week along with the show quality. WWE you have WAY too much talent to need to resort to this kind of garbage. Your better than this, I think. But why does WWE do this you ask? That leads me to my next point.
The Mismanaging of the Upcoming Talent from NXT
Keith Lee, Alister Black, Shinsuke Nakamura, Baron Corbin, Eric Young, Nikki Cross, Enzo, Cass, EC3, Neville, Bo Dallas, Richochet are just a few of MANY extremely talented superstars that got the call up from NXT to “the main roster” and have been utilized poorly or not at all. NXT to me and a lot of other people is the best in ring product in professional wrestling. They take time to develop characters, long term book and the matches between the superstars often tell a great story. You know it’s bad when you see people on the main roster ask to go back down to NXT. Finn Balor and Ember Moon both have and look how well they are doing and how happy they are. Keith Lee might be the one exception as he just had an amazing WWE Championship match last night with Drew McIntyre so he might be okay. But the fact that Vince had to change Keith’s music and look right away is baffling. All the things that made all the people listed above stand out and made Vince want them on the main roster in the first place, he changes. That makes zero sense to me. Use what got them over to your advantage and just keep adding layers to their character. Why should I be excited for Karrion Kross, Damien Priest, Rhea Ripley, Io Shirai, Toni Storm, The Undisputed Era or anyone else for that matter to be called up? I automatically worry about what they will do to screw up the talent. Hell, they couldn’t help themselves putting Charlotte over Ripley last year at Wrestlemania and halting her momentum when she was one of the hottest things going in the company. WWE needs to do better utilizing the amazing talent it’s given because lack of talent is far from an issue with this company.
Let the Talent Think for Themselves, NO MORE MICRO MANAGING!
The guy above really needs to loosen the reigns on his superstars. Vince really doesn’t need to micro manage everything he does. Vince McMahon is a legend in the business but let’s be honest how many stars have the WWE themselves created in the last ten years? CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, and Becky Lynch are the three that come to mind and WWE wasn’t even behind them. Bryan got the push due to overwhelming fan support, Punk dropped a pipe bomb and even when he was champion he never main evented pay per views and Becky got punched in the mouth by Nia Jax and that got her over. Austin 3:16 wasn’t even supposed to happen either! What I’m saying is WWE needs to give more creative freedom to it’s talent. Look at the talent they do give it to. Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton, Edge, and Sami Zayn are ones that come to mind and they are all some of the best things on WWE TV today. Why not let all talent have the same opportunities. Get over the “No one will ever be bigger than the brand WWE” and lets create some stars. The talent is there as the roster is absolutely loaded. There are so many talents wasted that it would take me an hour to type all the names but you all know who they are. I’m getting sick of defending a company that won’t let their superstars do what they are being paid to do. It’s hurting the quality of the product and their ratings.
But WWE made money this year even in a pandemic so why should they care? Wrestling is supposed to be for the fans to enjoy and it hasn’t really felt that way especially on Monday nights for quite a while now. Vince, swallow your damn pride take a huge step back, let Triple H take some of your responsibilities and show you how a wrestling show in the year 2021 should be booked because he has the best wrestling show their is on each Wednesday night. Times are changing Vince and its time you do as well. We respect each and every thing you have done for this business but its time to step back and enjoy the rest of your life. Trust the people, your family, to run the empire you created and watch it thrive again. We have heard it over the years but it’s truly time for you to show us you actually do care about your fans. Thank you, Vince but its time.
