Daniel Bryan, one of the greatest wrestlers to ever wrestle in the ring and who currently competes on the Smackdown brand for WWE, has confirmed the news that his contract with the company will be expiring soon. WWE is looking to transition Bryan into more of a part-time wrestler.
Bryan had recently spoken with BT Sport and was asked how he was feeling about his body while on the topic of his own longevity. The WWE superstar discussed being a parent is a top priority for him right now and while he still loves pro-wrestling, he’s wanting to become a full-time dad and just wrestle part-time. Bryan said, “So, I’m confident in my body and longevity.” He went on to say, “But it’s also… Now in my life, I’ve got a little bit different priorities as far as like… I still love wrestling and I feel like I’ll always love wrestling, and as long as I can do it I’ll do it,” but he asks the question about does he want to continue wrestling a full-time schedule? When he has two babies at home, Bryan like any good parent has to consider that aspect of his life when having a family. He still and always has that passion and love for wrestling. Even when Bryan talks about wrestling now, still after wrestling for over twenty years in his legendary career, he still is filled with joy and it gives him such energy. Bryan even describes getting kind of the shakes when mixing it up in a match.
He continued the conversation by stating, he has more important things in his life that Bryan loves more than wrestling. It gives the wrestler a different feeling when having those moments FaceTiming with his wife and kids. He talked about it saying, “before I got here to work, we’re filming shows for a week, and my daughter goes, ‘Daddy, can you come home now?’” And Bryan had to explain to her how he could not be home then, but would see her tomorrow. He reminisced about his relationship with his daughter and son. One of these precious moments, Bryan recalled, was so touching about how his daughter would hold his hand, and how they miss each other. He explains I don’t know if you have kids but parents will appreciate this because these stages don’t last for a very long time. Bryan says his son is at this stage of nuzzling in my neck for a long time and, “soon that’s going to stop, right?”
Bryan says, wants to focus on spending time with his children mostly because soon they’re going to be in school and they’re not going to lay on my chest. His daughter wants to sleep with us every night, and we don’t let her sleep with us every night, or even half the nights, but sometimes I go sleep in her room, and “I’m not a giant man,” Bryan said “it’s a tiny bed, but it’s so…like there’s just the feeling of it is unlike anything else, in a sense of like, it fills you with this joy that’s kind of undefinable, you know?”
Bryan opened up and talked about his WWE future. He spoke on switching priorities in his life where for years wrestling was the key focus, “My contract is coming up soon and not to say that… but we’re looking to transitioning me into maybe less than a full-time wrestler.” He admits his time being a full-time wrestler is numbered and Bryan is going to be more like a full-time dad, part-time wrestler, right? Wrestling is his side job, being a father is his most important job. Bryan had been away from WWE television since wife Bria Bella gave birth to their second child back in late summer of this year. Bryan will be in action on a Friday Night Smackdown’s Christmas episode this Friday night on Fox. The rumors seem to suggest a possible feud against WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns for Bryan.
