HELL YEAH! Seahawks are Playoff Bound

It was a fight till the very end but The Seattle Seahawks are PLAYOFF BOUND!! Sunday’s 20-15 victory over The Washington Football Team didn’t come easy and there were a couple different scary moments including Rookie running back DeeJay Dallas being carted off on kickoff coverage. Will the stat sheet give us the impression that the Seahawks had a great performance? Probably not. A win is a win, right? When it’s a win which sends the Seahawks back to the postseason it’s hard not to be happy.

Russell Wilson relied on the short-passing game to get the job done, ending the game with a 181 rushing yards in total. Carlos Hyde had the biggest play of the game, a 50 yard run for a touchdown. Chris Carson rushed for 65 yards on 15 carries and Wilson had 52 yards that included a 38 yard run to set up a second-quarter touchdown.

Washington has one of the league’s top defenses but Russell Wilson stayed upright all game. Chase Young and Montez Sweat were not able to record a sack on Wilson. Washington’s defense did manage to slow the Seahawks down in the second half and Sweat made a big play to deflect a pass and the ball was intercepted by Daron Payne. Bad play by Wilson and the offense, ok. This was more of a case of two defensive players making a great play. Honestly, I expected more big plays from Washington’s defense.

The Seahawks Defense showed up and was fired up. Two interceptions by Shaquill Griffin and D.J. Reed. Big shot out to San Francisco, thanks for Reed! Reed has become an absolute steal of a pickup and proved it again today. Reed had six tackles, deflected three passes including a breakup in the end zone. He kept tight coverage on Washington’s QB Dwayne Haskins all game.

It took Dwayne Haskins until the four quarter to finally get rolling and find the end zone. Haskins two touchdowns for a come back attempt bring the score to 20-15. That’s when things became interesting and stressful. Don’t expect anything less for Seattle at this point, just breathe and believe. Most of the time I forget the breathe part.

Haskins went short to McLaurin for 5 yards. Two-minute waring. Haskins passed to Sims for an 11-yard gain. Haskins shot up the middle looking for Thomas in the end zone, incomplete (remember to breath). Haskins sacked by Collier for a 5 yard loss (remember to believe). Haskins sacked again by Dunlap at third-15 for a 9-yard loss. Back-to-back sacks, I am believing. Haskins pass intended for McLaurin incomplete. In the words of Jamel Adams, “HELL YEAH!” Adams raised both arms in the air and fell on his back, celebrating the win and his first trip to the playoffs.

The Seahawks have nine straight seasons with a winning record after today. With New England dropping to 6-8 with a loss Sunday against the Dolphins, Seattle now holds the longest active streak of winning seasons in the NFL. Let’s just bask in that glory on Victory Monday. Tuesday 12’s we can all go back to breathe and believe because Sunday we host the LA RAMS with first place in the NFC at stake.
