It’s that time of year again to gather your families and friends around the Christmas tree and enjoy some of your favorite superstars afflicting some holiday pain courtesy of tables, ladders and chairs as WWE presents their annual TLC pay-per-view streaming live this Sunday December 20th inside the WWE ThunderDome starting at 7ET/4 PT on the WWE Network.
I’m going to give you my predictions with a little personal opinion on what might transpire for the matches on the show.
WWE Champion Drew McIntyre vs. AJ Styles (Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match)
Projected Winner: Drew McIntyre
Why I picked McIntyre over Styles. Drew McIntyre has been known as the “Scottish Warrior” for a reason. He’s easily been one of WWE’s best workers in the ring so far. And has rode a monumental wave of momentum as being the guy for WWE. AJ Styles has proven to be phenomenal throughout his illustrious career. Fans are getting the change to witness a dream match between Drew and AJ. This is guaranteed to be a very physical, intense and brutal affair, especially when Styles left the Champion laying on Raw from this past Monday. You better believe McIntyre is looking for revenge on Styles come Sunday at TLC.
Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens ( Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match)
Projected Winner: Roman Reigns
I’m picking “ The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns to beat KO because nobody has been outdoing what Roman’s been doing lately on Smackdown and pay-per-views. He’s been such a dominant champion so far, and with the pairing of Paul Heyman it only confirms how creative strongly compliments Reigns looking and being physically strong in not just the ring, but in backstage segments. Examples of this are Roman attacking Kevin Owens in the backstage area on a recent edition of Smackdown. I did not forget the Jey Uso factor either. Kevin Owens deserves a good, long title reign as Universal Champion, however the timing is not right now. Owens can talk and cut terrific promos, he also can work inside the squared circle. If I had an opportunity to book the match, then Roman who would win and retain the Universal Championship.
The Fiend vs. Randy Orton (Firefly Inferno Match)
Projected Winner: The Fiend
This one was difficult to pick, but with a special stipulation that WWE added. To me a unique kind of presentation for a match to settle a score between superstars who’ve had a history going back to Bray Wyatt’s old gimmick. The Fiend wins and gets revenge on Randy Orton and it’s real simple because of Wyatt’s new persona as The Fiend. Randy Orton is one of my favorites and continues to be one of wrestling’s greatest heels. A part of me was conflicted when thinking of who might be victorious in such a different style of match like a Firefly Inferno Match. Both Wyatt and Orton are so good at playing mind games, getting into great psychology to help fans suspend their disbelief even for a little bit. WWE has a story I already mentioned that points back to the word history in this same paragraph. Orton burned down the Wyatt compound, they both had a match. Orton never faced this version of Bray Wyatt embodying The Fiend. Many fans wonder if we will get a cinematic match and that’s very likely, but it could still work in the ring inside ThunderDome. I’m a big fan of the Viper Orton, however I’m selecting The Fiend to win at TLC.
Smackdown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks vs. Carmella
Projected Winner: Sasha Banks
Sasha Banks finally needs a long title reign as the Smackdown Women’s Champion, she is very deserving given how much Banks has worked to get to this spot within WWE and her work in the ring also how well she does concerning storylines. Carmella has been a former Smackdown Women’s Champion before and is very talented and looks great. She has put in the work staying fit and Carmella also has been working hard in the ring to prepare for her big return and considering the current storyline she’s been given. We saw an early preview of a Sasha versus Carmella match on an episode of Smackdown. I have to be honest, Sasha is not losing the belt come this Sunday at TLC.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler vs. Asuka & ?
Projected Winner: Asuka and Mandy Rose
Many are wondering who Asuka’s tag-team partner will be at TLC on Sunday, I’ve heard Lana, Charlotte Flair, maybe Ronda Rousey. So why am I guessing Mandy Rose? A segment I forgot about was Mandy hitting Nia Jax with a kendo stick and coming on Raw Monday night. If the WWE Universe can remember Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler have been feuding with Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose, Rose being legitimately injured by Jax can be utilized in a storyline. That’s my logic behind why such an idea could work for this match. Baszler and Jax have made a unique team. The dynamic has grown on me a little. Now is the time for them to lose the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships to Asuka and Mandy Rose. Asuka could be not only Raw Women’s Champion but one-half of the Women’s tag-team champion as well much like Bayley did when her and Sasha held those titles. Shayna can go back to being a singles competitor and Nia can too. My reasoning for a title change and win for Asuka and Mandy Rose, new WWE Women’s Tag-Team Champions at TLC.
Raw Tag-Team Champions The New Day vs. The Hurt Business’ Shelton Benjamin & Cedric Alexander
Projected Winner: The Hurt Business’ Shelton Benjamin & Cedric Alexander
The New Day consisting of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have been so good as the Raw Tag-Team Champions including going back to their time representing Smackdown as the blue brand’s tag team champions before they were drafted to Raw and switching brand belts with the Street Profits who are currently the Smackdown tag-team champions. They’ve enjoyed a great run, but The Hurt Business has been one of the bright spots for Raw and WWE’s best faction in recent years. Bobby Lashley is already the United States Champion, so that’s why it’s important for Shelton and Cedric to win and become the New Raw Tag-Team Champions add more gold to this impressive star-studded stable. Think about the villains when referring to the bad guys as heels being the ones with the tag team belts, it adds even more credibility to the group which the Hurt Business already had with MVP, Lashley, Shelton and Cedric. That’s why your winners and new Raw Tag-Team Champions are Benjamin and Alexander of The Hurt Business at TLC.
