Shaq to be on AEW Dynamite

AEW is pulling out all the stars to appear on their Wednesday December 9th episode of Dynamite on TNT, not only will the icon Sting be appearing and speaking on the show, news broke that Shaquille O’Neal would be making an appearance on the show and speaking with Tony Schiavone. Tony Khan is looking to brand celebrities with pro-wrestling which is very common. We should mention TNT is also the home for the NBA. Shaq currently is an analyst on their NBA-related programs. So the cross-over appeal is already there with having wrestling and basketball on the network.

To remind fans, why AEW is bringing the NBA legend into the world of pro-wrestling is simple, several weeks ago on an episode of Dynamite Shaq’s name was mentioned by the debuting Jade Carqill she teased that the big man was on his way to challenge “ The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes to a match in the ring. Shaq has been very open about stepping in the squared-circle once again. It’s no secret O’Neal had been in negotiations with WWE to take on The Big Show. He appeared on WWE Monday Night Raw in 2009 serving as a guest-host and had an altercation with the Big Show. Also Shaq appeared in the Andre Giant Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32 as a surprise celebrity entrant where he and The Big Show eliminated Damien Sandow back in 2016. Unfortunately for both Shaq and WWE they could come to terms on an agreement to make the deal happen.

AEW is looking to capitalize on this angle and like we mentioned at the top by signing and having Sting make his surprising debut on last week’s Dynamite and Kenny Omega becoming AEW World Champion defeating Jon Moxley after he left with Don Callis to appear on Impact Wrestling on AXS TV on Tuesday. AEW wants to keep momentum by not only loading the card for their Dynamite shows but also investing in storylines and cross-promotion with Impact and we’ve seen it already with the NWA. Personally a relationship with AEW and Impact can only help and would be beneficial to the wrestling industry.

Here are the great matches announced for Dynamite this Wednesday night on TNT.

Sting will talk about his AEW Debut.
Shaquille O’Neal addresses AEW.
Orange Cassidy battles MJF for the Dynamite Diamond Ring.
